Performance Checker

Check your server's HTTP/2 support, compression settings, response times, and caching headers. Identify optimization opportunities for faster page loads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Performance Checker free to use?

Yes. Every tool on this site is completely free, with no account, no signup, and no paid tier to upgrade to.

Do I need to install a browser extension or any software?

No. The Performance Checker runs online, in the browser you already have. It works the same on desktop and mobile, and there is nothing to download, install, or add to Chrome.

Why Server Performance Matters

Server configuration directly impacts how fast your pages load. HTTP/2, compression, and proper caching can dramatically reduce load times and improve user experience.

HTTP/2 & HTTP/3

HTTP/2 enables multiplexing (multiple requests over one connection), header compression, and server push. HTTP/3 (QUIC) further improves performance especially on mobile networks with its UDP-based transport.

Compression (Gzip & Brotli)

Compression reduces file sizes by 60-80%, meaning faster downloads and less bandwidth. Brotli offers 15-20% better compression than gzip for text-based content like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Time to First Byte (TTFB)

TTFB measures server response time - how long until the first byte of data arrives. A fast TTFB (under 200ms) indicates good server performance. Slow TTFB can be caused by server-side processing, database queries, or network latency.

Caching Headers

Cache-Control and ETag headers tell browsers how long to cache resources and when to revalidate. Proper caching eliminates unnecessary requests and dramatically speeds up repeat visits.

Grade Breakdown:

  • A (85-100) - Excellent configuration
  • B (70-84) - Good, minor optimizations
  • C (50-69) - Fair, room for improvement
  • D (30-49) - Poor, needs attention
  • F (0-29) - Critical issues detected
